Sanyuan Environmental's Case Study on Noise Control in Industrial and Mining Enterprises – Steam Turbine Generator Soundproof Enclosure

2025-11-04

While rapid industrial development has boosted economic growth, it has also brought noise pollution. Workers exposed to high-noise environments for extended periods not only suffer physical and mental health damage but also experience a significant decrease in work efficiency. To provide a quiet working environment, reasonable and effective sound insulation and noise reduction measures can effectively reduce the impact of noise, improve the quality of the working environment, and protect the health and safety of employees.

01. Noise Control Objectives

Comprehensive noise control measures will be implemented for the steam turbine generator set, including the turbine, reducer, generator, exciter, and piping. Soundproof enclosures will be installed to ensure that noise levels in the work area meet the requirements of the "Hygienic Standards for Industrial Enterprise Design," meaning that employee noise exposure time will not exceed 85 dB(A) over an 8-hour period. Sufficient maintenance space must be reserved in the design, and ventilation equipment must be installed to ensure good equipment ventilation. Furthermore, the temperature of the turbine bearings and generator set after the modification must not exceed the pre-modification values.

03. Unit Noise Source Analysis

1. Steam turbine noise

When high-pressure, high-temperature steam passes through a regulating valve, the valve ball seal may be compromised due to poor valve manufacturing quality or long-term corrosion, resulting in steam leakage and thus generating loud noise.

2. Generator noise

Generator noise consists of three main parts: electromagnetic noise, aerodynamic noise, and mechanical noise.

3. Pipeline noise

Pipeline noise includes aerodynamic noise and pipeline vibration noise, mainly in the low to medium frequency range.

04. Noise Control Plan

Installing an integrated soundproof enclosure on steam turbine-related equipment can effectively reduce the noise radiation impact on the outside of the enclosure during the operation of the steam turbine generator set, and also reserve maintenance space and passageway to ensure sound insulation effect.

05. Significance of Noise Control

With the development of society and the economy, enterprises are paying increasing attention to the working environment of their employees. Noise is one of the main influencing factors in the working environment of industrial and mining enterprises, making sound insulation and noise reduction particularly important. By adopting reasonable and effective sound insulation and noise reduction solutions, selecting suitable materials, and carrying out safe and scientific installation, noise pollution in the working environment can be effectively reduced, thereby improving the office environment and work efficiency of enterprises.
