On July 6, the 2022-2023 National Acoustics Conference, themed "Hearing the New Voice of the Times to Help the Nation Strengthen Science and Technology," was held at Harbin Engineering University.
At the opening ceremony, Yin Jingwei, Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of Harbin Engineering University, stated that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the university's founding. As an important part of the "Academic Anniversary Celebration," the gathering of numerous renowned experts and scholars at the university is a significant event. He expressed hope that through thorough discussions and exchanges, new ideas would be generated, major scientific problems would be addressed collaboratively, and fruitful results would be achieved in the development of acoustic technology. The university will take this opportunity to host the conference, focusing on national and industry needs, and continue to leverage its disciplinary strengths to make new and greater contributions to the development of acoustics in China.
Li Fenghua, president of the Acoustical Society of China, expressed his hope that the delegates would focus on the bottlenecks and challenges in acoustics, make full use of the National Acoustics Conference as a platform to exchange ideas, share resources, integrate with each other, and cooperate deeply. He encouraged them to continue to exert efforts in basic acoustic research, technological breakthroughs,成果转化 (technology transfer), and industrialization, thereby contributing to high-level academic exchanges and industrial development in acoustics both domestically and internationally, and ultimately to high-quality economic and social development.
Zhang Xiaoyan, Party Secretary of the Heilongjiang Provincial Association for Science and Technology, noted that acoustics, as a fundamental discipline, especially modern acoustics intersecting with multiple disciplines, has made groundbreaking progress in novel and unique interdisciplinary fields such as medical ultrasound, bioacoustics, marine acoustics, and environmental acoustics. It has also yielded a number of major original achievements with international influence at the forefront of the field, providing strategic support for achieving high-level scientific and technological self-reliance. She expressed her hope that the Heilongjiang Provincial Acoustical Society will further strengthen its close ties with national societies, injecting innovative power into the comprehensive revitalization of Heilongjiang.
To accelerate the selection and training of young scientific and technological talents and support outstanding young talents who are expected to become future leaders in science and technology, the Acoustical Society of China organized the "Acoustical Society of China Young Talent Support Program" selection. At the opening ceremony of this conference, the list of 30 recipients of the Acoustical Society of China Young Talent Support Program for the three batches of 2021-2023, 2022-2024, and 2023-2025 was announced, and project certificates were awarded to them.
Subsequently, Yang Desen, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor of Harbin Engineering University, Tian Jing and Yang Jun, Researchers of the Institute of Acoustics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Ma Jinyi, Chief Scientist of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation, and Liang Bin, Professor of Nanjing University, delivered keynote speeches entitled "Nonlinear Science and Underwater Acoustics", "Innovative Development of Noise Technology to Support the Construction of a 'Quiet China'", "Directional Sound Technology: From Theory to Application", "Application and Development of Micro-acoustic Devices", and "Development and Application of Acoustic Metamaterials", respectively.
The National Acoustics Congress is one of the largest and most influential academic events in the field of acoustics in my country, and has become an internationally influential academic brand integrating cutting-edge, strategic, and academic aspects. This year's conference is hosted by the Acoustical Society of China and organized by Harbin Engineering University.
The conference lasted three days and featured nine thematic forums, including "Tranquil China," "Underwater Acoustics," "Medical-Engineering Interdisciplinary Integration and Innovation," and "Ultrasonic Transducers," as well as four special forums for key laboratories and young scholars. In addition to academic reports, the conference also included the 5th Acoustics Popular Science Works Exhibition, the Acoustics Application Research and Design Competition, and a corporate achievement exhibition.
