Office furniture, like home furniture, requires maintenance during use. This isn't just about extending the lifespan of office furniture, but also about cultivating good usage habits – a quality every employee should possess. Treating things this way demonstrates responsibility and ultimately benefits the company. So, what are some simple tips for maintaining common office furniture?
Plywood office furniture
Originally a type of solid wood plywood, it has become widely used due to the more precise manufacturing process of the General Craftsmen's Association. However, it differs from ordinary plywood. Because PVC plywood is quite easy to assemble, you should ask the store about precautions during assembly when purchasing, so that you can easily reassemble it yourself if it comes loose. If there are small scratches on the surface, you can use a crayon similar in color to touch up the scratches, and then apply colorless wax. PVC plywood is edge-sealed to prevent moisture penetration and protect the furniture's lifespan. If any detachment is found, you can quickly heat it back and forth with an iron and a soft cloth to restore its original shape. If the baseboard of PVC plywood furniture has a sealed design, you can place some desiccant and insect repellent inside before assembly to keep it dry and clean.
Hardwood furniture
There are two types of hardwood furniture. Traditional hardwood furniture generally has no lacquer layer on the surface, only a hot wax coating. Newly manufactured hardwood furniture has a lacquer or varnish layer for protection. With proper use and maintenance, it can, in principle, be passed down through generations for a long time. Avoid placing excessively heavy items on the surface of the furniture for extended periods, especially televisions and fish tanks, as this can cause the furniture to warp. Do not cover tabletops with non-breathable materials such as plastic sheets. When moving or transporting furniture, handle it gently; do not pull or drag it to avoid damaging the mortise and tenon joints. Do not lift tables and chairs by the top, as this can cause them to detach. Lift them from the sides of the table and the seat of the chair. For cabinets, it is best to remove the doors before lifting to reduce weight and prevent the doors from moving. For particularly heavy furniture, use soft ropes to lift it from under the base. Never wipe hardwood furniture, especially antique furniture, with a damp or rough cloth. Use a clean, soft, pure cotton cloth, and after a period of time, apply a small amount of furniture wax or walnut oil, gently wiping along the wood grain.
solid wood furniture
If solid wood furniture doesn't show condensation or mold, you can place desiccant packets inside to absorb moisture. After wiping the exterior clean with a dry towel, apply a layer of walnut oil to repel moisture. In addition, daily maintenance is necessary. Solid wood furniture should be maintained with a special cleaner. You can apply a protective wax or specialized cleaner evenly to the surface and then gently wipe it to maintain its shine and prevent moisture. If solid wood furniture gets damp, and the situation is not serious, it should be ventilated and air-dried promptly. If condensation or mold appears, wipe off the water droplets first, remove the mold with a mild detergent, and then dehumidify.
The above are some tips for maintaining common office furniture. I believe everyone has gained some understanding of office furniture maintenance. There are many ways to maintain office furniture, but the best way is for every employee to have a sense of responsibility, learn some office furniture maintenance skills, and spend a little time every day to properly maintain office furniture and extend its service life.
